Brownell Ceramics happily introduces our first limited edition Anagama Series.  These beauties were fired for three and one half days in a wood burning Anagama kiln located in the beautiful Sierra Foothills of California.  This highly sought atmospheric firing process results in a naturally applied ash "glaze".  These fine specimens are chock full of flashing, ash deposits, and delightful bantering of surface oxidation and reduction.  This is a limited edition so get yours before they're gone!!

Wood Firing Anagama

Firing

The Anagama kiln is stoked for 3.5 days with pine and oak.

Anagama Espresso Cups Saucers

Wood Ash

The surface of Anagama wares are determined by the atmosphere within the kiln.  Temperature, reduction, heat flow, and ash accumulation determine the final result.

Silicon Carbide Anagama Shelf

Wadding

Each piece is wadded before kiln loading to ensure wares are not fused to the kiln shelves whilst firing. Wadding is essentially clay.
